Bustling Ballston!

The magnificent Waycroft apartments in Ballston are the newest homes coming to market in the neighborhood. With significant development throughout the region, Ballston is quickly becoming one of the best areas to call home. Of course, it’s not all brand new apartments and shops, there is a long-established community of residents who have their favorite spots. To live like the locals, here are a couple of their favorites!

Quarter Market

The Ballston Quarter Market is the perfect spot for a family meal out with youngin’s in tow. There are lots of great food options throughout the indoor food hall, but most importantly, there’s plenty of space for kiddos and the casual atmosphere means there are numerous families enjoying the area.

Ted’s Bulletin

Walking distance from the Ballston Metro stop, you’ll find a true DC classic. Ted’s Bulletin is an elevated version of your standard diner best known for its creative homemade pop-tarts in various seasonal flavors. If you’re in the mood for breakfast, the stuffed-to-the-brim breakfast burrito is a flavorful favorite.

True Food Kitchen

For those residents looking for a more nutritious meal option, True Food Kitchen is a delicious and healthful spot in the neighborhood. It’s well located, has an extensive menu, and they’re welcoming of substitutions, additions, and healthy add-ons.

Regal Cinemas

It’s not just about dining in Ballston, however. For those looking for good old fashioned entertainment, the Ballston movie theater is one of the biggest complexes in the area. Featuring new releases on multiple screens, it’s the perfect way to spend a drizzly day (or catch the latest new flick rain or shine!)

The IcePlex

The MedStar Capitals Iceplex is officially the practice arena of the Washington Capitals hockey team, but it’s open to the public when the pros aren’t on the ice. Interestingly, since it’s situated on the 8th floor of the recently renovated Ballston Quarter mall, the IcePlex is currently the highest ice rink above street-level in the US.

These are just a handful of the fun ways to spend time in Ballston, but locals will tell you that the entire neighborhood is full of incredible dining and entertainment options. For the sports bar vibe, check out First Down or Punch Bowl Social for arcade games and cocktails. If you’d rather find a hole in the wall for dinner, Rus Uz (a Russian Uzbek restaurant) by the metro is a popular choice. And, if you’re willing to walk just beyond the main Ballston strip, Pupatella is a Neapolitan pizza spot with a cute outside seating area to enjoy in warmer weather.

Ballston has long been a beloved neighborhood on the outskirts of DC, but with the newly renovated mall and the Waycroft bringing many new residential and retail options to the community, Ballston is becoming bigger and better than ever.
